Advertising Blotters

No fountain pen user should be without blotters. An advertising blotter is a small sheet of blotter paper, printed with advertising and given away for promotional purposes. In the “olden days,” advertising blotters frequently bore pinup art (sometimes risqué) and were used by businesses of all kinds. Today, they’re not quite so common. As a pen collector and user, you’ve probably watched a store clerk “tattoo” your signature on a thumb when picking up a freshly signed credit card slip a little too hastily. It may have been amusing to you, but most people who aren’t into fountain pens take a dim view of our “badge of honor.” Solve the problem the way your parents and grandparents did, by carrying a traditional advertising blotter in your checkbook or vest pocket or purse.

Set of blotters

There are five great pinups — sorry, no risqué ones — in our set of blotters, and each design features a photo of a pen that was (in general) manufactured in the decade during which the picture was painted. The pinup paintings are by some of the greatest pinup artists of the 20th century:

Our 3"×51/2" blotters are professionally printed on 100-pound heavyweight blotter stock, to stand up to the rigors of being carried around every day. Each set contains five assorted blotters, one of each design.
