Maintenance Essentials: Sunshine Polishing Cloth

Brighten up your pen’s furniture with something that’s made just for polishing precious metals: Sunshine® Polishing Cloth. I found these at a wholesale jeweler’s supply company, and for me they’re the best available. See what just rubbing with a Sunshine Cloth did to one half of this really crufty Vacumatic cap band. (Guess which half…!)

Sunshine Cloth Results from using Sunshine Cloth

Unlike many other polishing cloths, Sunshine Cloth is a single 5"×8" piece of impregnated fabric, not two sewn-together pieces. No guessing which piece contains abrasive, no polishing everything twice just to be sure. The cloth also contains a small amount of a gentle micro-abrasive, just enough to buff out the almost invisible scratches marring the finish you’re trying to restore. As it safely cleans and polishes silver, gold, and other precious metals, it will also brighten the other surfaces of your pen by removing dirt and grime. Add one to your order.

CAUTION
CAUTION
Do not use Sunshine Cloth to polish the thinly gold-plated nibs of cheap third-tier and bottom-feeder vintage pens such as Arnold, Underwood, Stratford, etc. The plating on these cheap nibs is so thin that just rubbing it with your bare fingers will remove it.
