======================================================================== Nib Noise Volume 2 Number 1 ======================================================================== Welcome to Nib Noise. This newsletter is a joint effort of Richard Binder and Don Fluckinger. We hope you'll enjoy reading this month's issue. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Next Pen Show Will Be in Boston, on April 12 and 13. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'll be there. Last weekend the Great Southeastern Pen Show in Atlanta, next weekend the New England Pen Show in Boston. It's almost an embarras de richesse. I'll be doing my usual nib regrinding and tweaking -- with emphasis on spending time with clients rather than just taking their pens and sending them to walk the floor. I've found that I can best serve my clients, and meet new people, by going heavy on the "face time," chatting and watching you write and diagnosing your pen's problems and needs. This means I may get less actual work done at the show and have to bring more pens home, but I think it'll work out better. Naturally, I'll have my pen case along, with all of the pens I currently have for sale. As you'll see when you visit the pages linked below, I have a couple of novel pens this time. The show in Boston is relatively small, what I'd call intimate. It's a very good way to introduce yourself to pen shows with something less than high stress. There are always some super bargains to be had, and Pier Gustafson, the Pen God, is usually there with drawers and boxes of parts. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Broad Strokes" by Richard Binder ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sheaffer made a zillion Snorkels. Today, collectors either love 'em or hate 'em. The last stand of the "old" fountain pen against the ballpoint juggernaut, the Snorkel appeared in a tremendous variety of models and colors. This month we present a profile of the most complicated fountain pen of all time. Can't say no to a great pen buy? Then this piece is for you, written by a sympathizer. This month's pick has nothing at all to do with pens. Instead, I'm indulging in a little shameless self promotion by showcasing "Get Creative! The Digital Photo Idea Book," by Kate Binder and Richard Binder: http://www.richardspens.com/?page=acc_txt.htm#readerscorner My monthly pick also appears as a link on my welcome page. ======================================================================== If you received this newsletter from Richard Binder, you are a subscriber.
