======================================================================== Nib Noise Volume 2 Number 6 ======================================================================== Welcome to Nib Noise. This newsletter is a joint effort of Richard Binder and Don Fluckinger. We hope you'll enjoy reading this month's issue. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Show Tunes *** by Richard Binder ------------------------------------------------------------------------ It's September. This month I'm off to Gotham -- New York, the Big Apple, the City That Never Sleeps -- for the Third Annual New York City Pen Show. I'll be spending the weekend of the 19th through the 21st regrinding and adjusting nibs for walk-up clients. The show runs Friday throuhg Sunday, three full days! Come on up to the New York Helmsley Hotel and spend some time at a young but remarkably healty and altogether delightful show. Check out the show's Web site: http://www.nycpenshow.com/ As always, I'll have a few pens for sale, as well as a supply of my preground Pelikan M200 italics, obliques, stubs, and more. I'm still featuring my unique ItaliFine, which writes as a 0.9-mm cursive italic when you hold the pen normally and switches to a fine when you turn the pen upside down. I'll also have a small assortment of miscellaneous styles that aren't listed on my Web site, including one or two very flexible M250 nibs in 14K. I'll also have sets of my fountain pen anatomy posters available at the show. Set 1 features a typical lever filler and the Parker Vacumatic, and Set 2 shows Sheaffer's Snorkel and the Parker "51" (aerometric version). These posters are 8-1/2"x11", commercially printed on high-gloss heavy Kromekote paper, and they're great for framing. Check them out on my Web site: http://www.richardspens.com/?page=acc_txt.htm&refp=posters.htm ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Broad Strokes" by Richard Binder ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The pros know how. Your fellow hobbyists know how. Now you too can learn how. From soup to nuts, I'll treat you to the full course on replacing the diaphragm in a Parker Vacumatic. Here's a guy who's gonna be schooled in the fine points of fountain pens from Day One. Literally. Given that fountain pens aren't a dime a dozen on every street corner, like some other so-called writing instruments, where do you do most of your shopping? Cast your vote: http://www.richardspens.com/?page=poll.htm ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pens for Sale ------------------------------------------------------------------------ It's been pretty busy around here this past week, but I did find time to prepare a few vintage pens for sale.
