I'll be working on nibs as I do at every show we attend, and Barbara will manage the table, handling sales and making sure I keep my nose to the grindstone. Just a reminder: We bring most of our normal pen stock to shows, but we can't bring everything. If there's a special pen you've been thinking of, please feel free to send us an email to ask us to be sure we bring it for you. At the table next to ours will be Ron Zorn of Main Street Pens, handling on-site general repairs. Ron used to be a part-time pen guy, but he's now doing this work full time, with his better half Robyn directing traffic at his table. Bring a pen or two to keep them busy! For more information, visit the show's site: http://www.lipenshow.com/ And make your reservations TODAY! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** The Great Southeastern Pen Show is Back! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Join us next month for the 13th Annual Great Southeastern Pen Show at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter NW in Atlanta, Georgia. This is a new venue, a great hotel that's convenient to excellent dining and shopping (for the noncollectors who might come along). Atlanta will be in full bloom, and we're looking forward to a great show. If you haven't made your hotel reservations yet, you should do so as soon as possible. For more ingformation, visit the show's site: http://www.atlantapenshow.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** The First New Classic Pens CP Edition in Four Years, the CP8 *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Since its founding, Classic Pens Inc. has produced many gorgeous pens. Perhaps the best known are the CP series, sterling silver pens with magnificent guilloché designs. Until now, CP-series pens have been based on pens from other makers, including Parker, Sheaffer, Sailor, Aurora, and Pelikan. Now, built on Classic Pens' own Legend model, comes the CP8. The CP8 features two patterns, Flamme and Vannerie (basket weave), and it will be made in a strictly limited edition of 175 fountain pens and 75 rollerball/ballpoint pens in each pattern. We are now accepting pre-orders for the CP8. Our price for fountain pens is $900.00, for rollerball/ballpoint pens $750.00. As always, previous Classic Pens clients will have first call for specific serial numbers; but we will try to reserve for you the numbers you request. If you purchase a duet, Classic Pens will ensure that your two pens have matching numbers. You can see the CP8 and read more information about it on the Classic Pens site: http://classicpensinc.com/CP/CP8.htm Please contact us by email as soon as possible to reserve your CP8 pens. A deposit of 50% will be required to reserve each pen. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Keeping the "Special" in Special *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This month we've put up a few stray pens, things we have only one or two of. "Stray" doesn't mean bad or worn-out or shopworn, you understand; it just means we're ready to let these few pens go at bargain prices. http://www.richardspens.com/?newp=oth One pen you won't see on the site is a Pelikan K640 Niagara Falls ballpoint. We ordered it by mistake, you see, and our goof is your gain. The first "I want it" email will get this pen, which we've priced at only $150.00. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** The Classic Pens Legend Debuts in Basic Black *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Flame Red Legend is downright flamboyant. The Jupiter is elegant and exclusive. Our Legend prototypes are distinguished and rich looking. But none of these is restrained. For the discriminating pen owner who wants a pen to go hand in glove with the tux for that white-tie affair, Andy has created a special Basic Black edition of the Legend. Crafted in an extra-tough resin that holds an extraordinarily brilliant shine, this pen is a Legend in its own right. We have it, priced at $395.00. http://www.richardspens.com/?newp=cla+proto ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Come to the Richard's Pens Pen Show *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here we are with Spring right around the corner -- heck, Daylight Savings Time starts this month! And with the changing seasons comes a new : http://www.richardspens.com/?newp= ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Don's Boxes -- Some Familiar Names, Some Great New Ones *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This month, Don's Cigar Box Pen Chest assortment features an unusual prototype double-decker and some hitherto-unseen brands...as well as some popular mainstays. Get yours before they're gone. As always, there are only 20 up for grabs, and each is one of a kind: http://www.richardspens.com/?acc=dons_boxes ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Try Your Hand at Nib Smoothing *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Our Student Smoothing Kit has been flying out the door. Even Susan, one of our new apprentice/assistants, is using one! This kit includes the Basic Kit and adds two complete brand-new Autopoint fountain pens with excellent Mutschler steel nibs. I had to mess up the nibs on Susan's kit before she had something to work with -- you might want to save one of these pens to use right out of the package while you teach yourself the moves on the other one. http://www.richardspens.com/?acc=lapping_films ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Richard's Wallpaper Shop Is Open for Business *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Last month's calendar page, featuring the Classic Pens Flame Red Legend and Mount Etna, is now available for download as a computer desktop wallpaper. http://www.richardspens.com/?page=wallpapers ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Pens That Write Right! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Unless otherwise requested at the time of sale, I tune each new pen or nib at no extra charge before shipment. I fill the pen with Waterman Blue-Black ink and write with it on paper from the same fountain pen friendly pads we sell, adjusting as necessary to bring it up to the RichardsPens.com "factory" standard for smoothness and flow. If you order a new pen with a customized nib, I will modify the nib and ship the pen immediately instead of putting it into my regular queue. Remember, we are authorized retailers for Bexley, Classic Pens Inc., Conway Stewart, Namiki and Pilot, Pelikan, and Signum. We don't always have a complete line up on the site, but we can get anything our manufacturers offer -- if you don't see it, just ask! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Broad Strokes" by Richard Binder ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Everybody likes a "twofer." Julius Schnell made it possible for everybody to get one: http://www.richardspens.com/?desn=combos ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Extra Fine Points" by Don Fluckinger ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Celebrating his first decade of collecting, Don lists his favorite vint- age pens -- some are pretty easy to guess, but others will definitely surprise you: http://www.richardspens.com/?xf=0803 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Subscribe to our RSS Feed *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ RSS means Really Simple Syndication.
