North Carolina is a pretty nice place any time, but with the prospect of a pen show, it's even more attractive. The Raleigh show begins midday Friday, June 6, and runs through Sunday, June 8. (Pre-show goings-on start on Thursday for weekend traders.) This show is run by Terry and Sonia Mawhorter, who also run the terrific Ohio show every November. They do every bit as good a job a little farther south. And as if a good show weren't enticement enough, the Embassy Suites is a great hotel, offering registered show attendees a free buffet breakfast and a free before-dinner happy hour with *real booze*. Check it all out here: http://www.raleighpenshow.com/ Oh, umm, one of the best attractions, beside the show itself, is the righteous auction. Last year I snagged a wicked sweet red second-year Hundred Year Pen and Pencil set. This year...? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Two -- no, three! -- new Bexley Collections are here! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ A coupla months ago, while I was chatting with Howard Levy, we came up with the concept for a new Bexley collection. And what do you know, it's here! It's the Pearlesse, and it was inspired by Carter's Pearltex pens from the early 1930s. Available in four brilliant pearlized colors, it's a real human-sized pen, one everyone I know can use -- and enjoy. While I was in Nashua, doing my thing, Howard was doing his thing. His thing is cooking up exciting, and excitingly different, collections. The newest, a complete surprise to me, came out at the same time as the Pearlesse. It's the Cutting Edge, and it's a 100-piece erially numbered LE featuring a custom-made pocket knife and a matching Bexley pen. This is one sweet item, and I'm expecting it to sell out VERY quickly! The Bexley elves have been at it again, making cool pens to fit some Waterman Gentleman sections they found. This time they've outdone themselves; there's an elegant new Watley that not only looks like a Streamlined Duofold Junior, it even writes like one. I already snagged one of the pens Bexley sent us, and I'm not giving it up. (I didn't even hear a squawk from the Managing Partner!) Check 'em all out here: http://www.richardspens.com/?newp=bex ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Prices rise on Classic Pens Legend and CP8 *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Classic Pens Inc. has informed us that the continued strengthening of the euro against the U.S. dollar means that Classic has been forced ro raise prices. Our price for the LM1 Flame Red Legend is now $510.00, as of May 1. The price for the CP8 Flamme and Vannerie sterling pens is now $1010.00. Here's our Classic Pens Inc. page: http://www.richardspens.com/?newp=cla Oh, by the way, while you're there you might want to purchase one of our Legend prototypes -- the price for these great pens have NOT risen, but the selection continues to dwindle. Don't be left out! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** We have an interesting selection of consigned LEs this month *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ One of our clients has asked us to sell an interesting collection of modern limited-edition pens this month. Follow this link: http://www.richardspens.com/?newp=oth ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Come to the Richard's Pens Pen Show *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The crocuses and grape hyacinths are up, the Forsythia is blooming, and the lilacs are only days away. With all this activity bursting around me, you'd think I would have no time for vintage pens, but the Richard's Pens Vintage Pen Show Tray just keeps on truckin'. Check out the really excellent pens we have for you this month! http://www.richardspens.com/?newp= ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Don's Boxes -- Father's Day is closing in on you! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I know Father's Day is next month, and Don will have more boxes up then, but he's got some really sweet ones up there this month, and one of them might be just right for your father, brother, cousin, uncle or... Maybe even for you. Don't let the occasion -- or the box -- get away from you! http://www.richardspens.com/?acc=dons_boxes Oh, by the way, men aren't the only people who collect pens. Mother's Day is coming up in a couple of weeks... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Pens That Write Right! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Unless otherwise requested at the time of sale, I tune each new pen or nib at no extra charge before shipment. I fill the pen with Waterman Blue-Black ink and write with it on paper from the same fountain pen friendly pads we sell, adjusting as necessary to bring it up to the RichardsPens.com "factory" standard for smoothness and flow. If you order a new pen with a customized nib, I will modify the nib and ship the pen immediately instead of putting it into my regular queue. Remember, we are authorized retailers for Bexley, Classic Pens Inc., Conway Stewart, Namiki and Pilot, Pelikan, and Signum. We don't always have a complete line up on the site, but we can get anything our manufacturers offer -- if you don't see it, just ask! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Broad Strokes" by Richard Binder ------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the space of five seconds, I can think of three excellent pens named Doric. Here's a look at the first and best known of them: http://www.richardspens.com/?prof=doric ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Extra Fine Points" by Don Fluckinger ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Don offers a peek at a new contender in the world of pen-friendly papers. http://www.richardspens.com/?xf=0805 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Subscribe to our RSS Feed *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ RSS means Really Simple Syndication.
