======================================================================== Nib Noise * Volume 10 Number 6 * September 2011 ======================================================================== Welcome to Nib Noise. Might as well buy a pen chest made from imported Spanish cedar. Since these elegant wooden chests used to hold cigars, you're doing Mother Earth a favor, too, observing the "reuse" part of her "reduce-reuse- recycle" mantra. Oh, and if you buy a Rocky Patel box you'll be saving some green in another way, too, because Don's reduced the price of most of these by $10 per. Check out the rare Ashton 20-year Salute at the top of the page, too, ain't it purty? If you like it, grab it before another of our pen chest-sniping regulars does. http://www.richardspens.com/?acc=boxes ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Edison and Onoto Are Settling In Very Nicely *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Edison Pen Company just released the second pen in its "production" line, the Collier. This baby comes in some pretty bodacious colors -- check it out, and look at the Hudson, too, while you're there: http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=edi Oh, by the way, in case it wasn't already apparent, we at the Nashua Pen Spa do nibs. Customized, or just for a spare or three, we have extra Edison nib units in both steel and gold. Order yours plain (Binderized, of course), or modified to your personal requirements. The Onoto Pen Company is great to work with, and we really like their pens, too. Barbara snagged a Simpole Overlay as soon as she laid eyes on it, and it's now a regular user for her. You could be using one, too... http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=ono ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Remember Bexley? *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bexley's new Corona is the hit of the summer. We've helped clients take home an amazing number of Coronas since Bexley introduced the model. As the second-ever American-made piston filler, the Corona would be cool, but it doesn't stop there. It's the right size and weight, and it comes in some very, very nice colors. And we have it in stock -- see our Bexley page: http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=bex+corona ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** And Then There's the Pearl Pink Vanishing Point LE! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Every year, Pilot produces a limited edition of the Vanishing Point. This year, the color is hot Pearl Pink! These pens were supposed to show up this month, but Pilot pushed things a little, and they were available in time for the Washington DC SuperShow last month. They're still available, and we've got 'em. We will donate $5.00 from the sale of each Pearl Pink pen to support breast cancer research. Check out this amazing pen on our site: http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=nam+vp ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Farewell, Aurora *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We've been closing out our remaining stock of Aurora pens. We have a few Talentums left; if you've been dithering about one of these excellent pens, don't dither too much longer! We're selling these pens for 60% OF RETAIL. THAT'S AN ADDITIONAL 25% OFF OUR NORMAL DISCOUNTED PRICES! http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=aur ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** School Days Are Here, and There's a School Pen on Our Tray *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ One school pen does not a tray make, though, so there are a few other pretty cool restored pens on the tray. They'll go fast, so don't spend too much time reading this article. Just go there! http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=vint ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** "Broad Strokes" by Richard Binder *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ It’s probably not news to you that fountain pens, these days, are in some ways more luxury items than they are essential writing instruments. So why do we persist in using these archaic marking sticks? Do we really need that big gold nib? http://www.richardspens.com/?ttp=hood ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** "Extra Fine Points" by Don Fluckinger *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ With eBay tightening its seller requirements and fees, pen sellers are looking for other options. Here are a few. http://www.richardspens.com/?xf=1109 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Pens That Write Right! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Unless otherwise requested at the time of sale, we tune each new pen or nib at no extra charge before shipment. We fill the pen with Waterman Blue-Black ink and write with it on paper from the same fountain pen friendly pads we sell, adjusting as necessary to bring it up to the RichardsPens.com "factory" standard for smoothness and flow. If you order a new pen with a customized nib, I will modify the nib (for an extra charge) and ship the pen immediately instead of putting it into my regular queue. Remember, we are authorized retailers for Aurora, Bexley, Gate City Pen, Namiki and Pilot, and Pelikan. We don't always have a complete line up on the site, but we can get anything our manufacturers offer -- if you don't see it, just ask! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Subscribe to our RSS Feed *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ RSS means Really Simple Syndication.
