We arrived Thursday afternoon, and the place was already buzzing. The show will run through Sunday, so if you're within driving distance, there's still time to get here and enjoy a weekend of pens and people, with time for some pretty good food, too. For more information, visit the show's Web site: http://www.raleighpenshow.com/ If you plan to come and haven't ever been to a show before, you might want to read my article on Your First Pen Show: http://www.richardspens.com/?shows=firstshow As always, we've brought a selection of new pens from Bexley, Edison, Gate City Pen, Namiki and Pilot, Onoto, and Pelikan. We'd rather not have to take them home again, so any help you can offer along that line will certainly be appreciated. And besides, you know you've been jonesing for a new pen anyway. And in case you haven't seen us at a pen show since January, we can now accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express cards. We're using Square, which means that you can also use your Square CardCase at our table. Come on down! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Notes on Postal Service *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Because we're at a show, we will not be shipping anything from the Nashua Pen Spa until Saturday, June 9. But we have a computer with us -- obviously -- and we'll be able to acknowledge purchases made while we're here. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Anybody Got a Namiki Bamboo? *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ If your Namiki Bamboo is interested in acquiring a new nib, we can make it a happy pen. When Pilot USA stopped offering the Bamboo, we were left with a handful of fine nibs and a couple of mediums, and we want the shelf space more than we care about breaking even on these nibs. Our price for these complete nib section assemblies, 14K nibs and all, is $50.00 each (plus shipping). That's less than we paid for them, so drop us an email and snag your Bamboo a brandy-new BINDERIZED nib. Barbara wants me to remind you that I can customize these nibs just like any of our other nibs, for the usual regrinding charge. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Some Rare and Elegant Cigar Boxes Return This Month *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ June marks the return of the rare Los Blancos Triple Decker and two even rarer Macanudo double-deckers that might be the finest, most solid pen chests we've repurposed from cigar boxes. That, and the usual array of choices that make pen storage an economical Father's Day gift for the penman in your life. http://www.richardspens.com/?acc=boxes ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** The Pelikan M600 Series -- Our Selection Has Never Been Better *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Not a small pen, but not too big either, the M600 sits right in the middle of Pelikan's Souverän line. With the delightful changes Pelikan has rung on this classic model, we have a very good selection to choose your nest Bird from, including the M600 in all five colors -- yes, five, including the special-edition White Tortoise -- the special-edition M605 in both colors, and the M625 in two of its three colors. These pens don't hang around long, and we don't know whether Pelikan will be making more of the special editions, so I wouldn't advise twiddling your thumbs for too much longer. http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=pel+m600 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** "Broad Strokes" by Richard Binder *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Although not terribly difficult, restoring the filling system in a Sheaffer Snorkel or PFM is a longer and more complicated process than replacing an ordinary sac. There are some definite pitfalls, and there are some wrong-headed ideas about how to do the job. Richard explains how to do it right and why doing it right is important. http://www.richardspens.com/?rep=snorkel ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** "Extra Fine Points" by Don Fluckinger *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you're a flag-waving patriot of the American stripe, Don's got some ideas (and no, we're not making any commissions or gaining other graft in suggesting them, we just like 'em) for some very fine USA-made leather goods to tote your electronics -- and of course fountain pens. http://www.richardspens.com/?xf=1206 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Some Special Sheaffers (Say that quickly three times...) *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Featured on this month's Pen Show Tray is a group of Sheaffers spanning 70 years, from 1920 to 1990 -- along with lots of other cool stuff, of course! http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=vint The Skyline Command Performance that we had on the tray last month is still available, and at the consignor's request we have reduced the price by $100 to $750. First email gets it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Pens That Write Right! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Unless otherwise requested at the time of sale, we tune each new pen or nib at no extra charge before shipment. We fill the pen with Waterman Blue-Black ink and write with it on paper from the same fountain pen friendly pads we sell, adjusting as necessary to bring it up to the RichardsPens.com "factory" standard for smoothness and flow. If you order a new pen with a customized nib, I will modify the nib (for an extra charge) and ship the pen immediately instead of putting it into my regular queue. Remember, we are authorized retailers for Bexley, Edison, Gate City Pen, Namiki and Pilot, Onoto, and Pelikan. We don't always have a complete line up on the site, but we can get anything our manufacturers offer -- if you don't see it, just ask! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** We're Still Building a List of Pen Clubs! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pen collecting is a lot more fun when you share your passion with others. We have a new page listing pen clubs that we know. There's probably a club near you. If there is, and it's not listed on our page, please let us know about it. If not, maybe you should start one! http://www.richardspens.com/?info=clubs ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Follow Us on the Internet with RSS, Facebook, and Twitter *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Follow us on the Internet by subscribing to our RSS feed.
