======================================================================== Nib Noise * Volume 11 Number 6 * September 2012 ======================================================================== Welcome to Nib Noise. We have a page on our site that lists pen clubs that we know. There's probably a club near you. If there is, and it's not listed on our page, please let us know about it. If not, maybe you should start one! http://www.richardspens.com/?info=clubs ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Back at School, Needing a New Pen? *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Each year Pilot issues a special limited edition of the Vanishing Point. This year's special VP is a luscious Charcoal Marble in color, and we have it. But it really is limited, and we won't have it long. Get yours today, while you still can! http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=nam+vp ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** News from Cigar Box Central *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ In case you were on vacation last month -- and who wasn't? -- you may have missed the announcement that Don is discontinuing the manufacture of these great pen storage chests later this year, in either November or December depending on how supplies hold out. Here's another strong batch; get them while you still can! http://www.richardspens.com/?acc=boxes ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Rummaging Around in the Attic Again *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Back in 2004, Bexley introduced its first long/short pen, the Tuck-Away. It’s been gone from the catalog for years, but when Bexley turned up a pile of nibless Tuck-Aways in the attic, we jumped to move them to our own attic. Now we want to move them to your pen case or pocket. http://www.richardspens.com/?acc=attic ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Update from Pilot *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Extra-fine nibs for the Vanishing Point are off the boat, and we have them. Note that these nibs are rhodium plated, so you can't get them as standard with any of our regular Vanishing Points. http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=nam+nibs ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** "Broad Strokes" by Richard Binder *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The quest for fast and efficient fountain pen filling systems occupied many a brain back in the primordial past of a century ago. In the decade centered on the year 1900, most pen owners still filled their pens with eyedroppers. The only viable self-filling pen on the market was Conklin's Crescent-Filler. And then, in 1905, genius surfaced. http://www.richardspens.com/?fillers=plunger ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** "Extra Fine Points" by Don Fluckinger *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Don takes on two topics this month, examining the new "Sunlight" Pelikan and the echoes of great vintage pens it awakens as well as the thorough- ly non-vintage marriage of handwriting, Moleskines and iPads via Ever- note. http://www.richardspens.com/?xf=1209 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Oh, Yes, the Tray! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you're on Facebook, earlier today you got a once-in-a-blue-moon look at this month's Pen Show Tray and had a chance to plan which pens you're going after. So what are you doing hanging around here?? http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=tray ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Pens That Write Right! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Unless otherwise requested at the time of sale, we tune each new pen or nib at no extra charge before shipment. We fill the pen with Waterman Blue-Black ink and write with it on paper from the same fountain pen friendly pads we sell, adjusting as necessary to bring it up to the RichardsPens.com "factory" standard for smoothness and flow. If you order a new pen with a customized nib, I will modify the nib (for an extra charge) and ship the pen immediately instead of putting it into my regular queue. Remember, we are authorized retailers for Bexley, Edison, Gate City Pen, Namiki and Pilot, Onoto, and Pelikan. We don't always have a complete line up on the site, but we can get anything our manufacturers offer -- if you don't see it, just ask! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Follow Us on the Internet with RSS, Facebook, and Twitter *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Follow us on the Internet by subscribing to our RSS feed.
