======================================================================== Nib Noise * Volume 12 Number 3 * June 2013 ======================================================================== Welcome to Nib Noise. We hope you'll enjoy reading this month's issue. PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS NEWSLETTER! This is a delightful Goldilocks-type show (not too big, not too small, but ju-u-u-ust right). If you're close enough to come, we'd love to see you, and we're sure you'd love to meet the people and handle the pens in person. There's more information on the show's site: http://www.raleighpenshow.com/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- *** Shipping Schedule for June *** ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Because we're at the Triangle Pen Show and because I'll be running my nib workers' master class later this month, shipping gets a little squeaky this month. During June, we will be shipping on the following dates: Saturday, June 8 Wednesday, June 13 Saturday, June 16 Saturday, June 22 Wednesday, June 26 Saturday, June 29 We appreciate your patience. That is all. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Why the Navy-Style Greeting Above? Ask Bexley! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Howard Levy and his people have been busy in Ohio, and they've just announced the new Bexley Admiral! With pens, as with clothing, size does matter. If you’re feeling left out by all those big pens that are out there today, Bexley’s Admiral is your pen. This subtle tribute to America’s fighting forces is about the size of the average standard- sized pen 75 years ago; at 4-31/32" capped and 5-17/32" posted, it’s the perfect size for those of us who have smaller hands or who just like normal-sized pens -- but its smaller size doesn’t mean it comes with less than the well known Bexley quality and reliability. http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=bex+admiral ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Master Classes This Summer at the Nashua Pen Spa *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We still have spaces open for the general repair and restoration class that will run 4 days, July 15-18. The student fee for this class is $1000. Students will learn basic and advanced restoration techniques, repair of lever, Vacumatic, and Snorkel fillers, and nib removal, installation, and adjustment. I will also demonstrate how to repair the seals in a plunger filler and the Conklin Nozac. If you're interested in attending this class, please contact us immediately if not sooner. (We need to begin making the arrangements.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Edison Has Been to the Color Well *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The great Edison Beaumont has acquired a new color, called Bordeaux Flake. This is a rich red that we can't help liking. If you've been putting off a Beaumont for your collection because you just weren't thrilled by the colors, check out Bordeaux Flake. And then order your new Beaumont! http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=edi+beaumont ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Price Going Up on BelOMO Loupe *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We've been advised by our supplier that the price of our BelOMO loupe will rise this month. As of June 15, we will be required to sell these superb loupes for no less than $36.00. If you don't already have a BelOMO, you have 14 days to save $6.00! http://www.richardspens.com/?acc=loupes ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Gang of Five Tray News *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ It’s time to move the Gang of Five pens out of here. We’ve reduced prices, but if you think they’re still not low enough, we will be happy to entertain reasonable offers. To make an offer, please send email identifying the pen and giving your absolute top number. http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=gang ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** New Old Pens, Trays Galore *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The monthly Pen Show tray has some Parker sweethearts on it, along with a nib alert or five. http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=tray And Barbara has reloaded her Attic tray with a nice assortment of users and easy restorations. http://www.richardspens.com/?acc=attic ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** "Broad Strokes" *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Pen Doctor is back, with prescriptions for dealing with a loose Parker "51" collector, removing a Waterman's lever, Pelikan 120 nibs, and Parker "51" shell adjustment. http://www.richardspens.com/?pendoc=xxv ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Pens That Write Right! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Unless otherwise requested at the time of sale, we tune each new pen or nib at no extra charge before shipment. We fill the pen with Waterman Blue-Black ink and write with it on paper from the same fountain pen friendly pads we sell, adjusting as necessary to bring it up to the RichardsPens.com "factory" standard for smoothness and flow. If you order a new pen with a customized nib, I will modify the nib (for an extra charge) and ship the pen immediately instead of putting it into my regular queue. Remember, we are authorized retailers for Bexley, Edison, Gate City Pen, Namiki and Pilot, Onoto, and Pelikan. We don't always have a complete line up on the site, but we can get anything our manufacturers offer -- if you don't see it, just ask! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Follow Us on the Internet with RSS, Facebook, and Twitter *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Follow us on the Internet by subscribing to our RSS feed.
