In only 26 days we'll be taking off for the Twelfth Annual Triangle Pen Show in Cary, North Carolina (within spittin' distance of Raleigh). The show begins Thursday, May 28, at the truly deluxe Embassy Suites, and it runs through Sunday, May 31st. That's right, by the time June rolls around, it'll all be over but the shouting. Public days are Friday afternoon (starting at 1 p.m), and Saturday, and Sunday. As always with a Terry Mawhorter show, there will be a pizza party on Thursday and the usual excellent auction on Saturday. You really shouldn't miss this weekend in Carolina. If you plan to come and haven't ever been to a show before, you might want to read my article on Your First Pen Show: http://www.richardspens.com/?shows=firstshow For more information, visit the show's Web site: http://www.trianglepenshow.com/ I'll be bent over my Dremel, regrinding and tweaking nibs, both the ones that you bring me to work on and the ones that we bring for you to purchase. And Barbara will of course be making sure I stick to business. Bring a pen or two, and share some chatter at my table while I jazz up your writing experience. We look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones. We hope to see you there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Don't Forget to Check Out my books *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This month I published The RichardsPens Guide to Fountain Pens, Volume 2: Restoration as an ebook that's available from Amazon (Kindle), Apple (iPad, iPhone, Macintosh), and Barnes & Noble (Nook). It's filled with advice, instruction, and lots of pictures. (I like my camera!) It'll guide you all the way from your first lever filler to that Tibaldi Modello 60 that's been sitting in your drawer since its piston broke. http://www.richardspens.com/?bks=richard I have other books on the page, too. Now, with Restoration and 366 Days of World War II both out there in the world, I'm debating what to write about next. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** The RichardsPens Schedule for May *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ With the Triangle Pen Show at the end of the month, our shipping schedule will be a little curtailed: Saturday, May 2 Wednesday, May 6 Saturday, May 9 Wednesday, May 13 Saturday, May 16 Wednesday, May 20 Saturday, May 23 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Where Did Our Nibs Go? *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Our nib stock is very low right now, and we have moved all of the nibs we have available at this time into Barbara's Attic. We have several types of nibs on back order, and as they return to stock, we'll add them to the Attic. THIS WILL INCLUDE FLEXIBLE NIBS, so if you're a flexie hound you will need to check the Attic instead of the NIBARAMA page. http://www.richardspens.com/?acc=attic ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** On the Monthly Pen Show Tray *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=tray You can go see what's there now, but the tray won't let itself be purchased until 10:00 p.m. It will automatically unlock itself when the Witching Hour sounds, so don't be late. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Broad Strokes *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Conklin's Crescent-Filler was the first self-filling pen, right? Nope. But it was wildly successful and spawned a host of imitators. Read about hump fillers this month.: http://www.richardspens.com/?fillers=hump ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Pens That Write Right! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Unless otherwise requested at the time of sale, I personally tune each new nib at no extra charge before shipment. I test the nib in a pen filled with Waterman Mysterious Blue ink and write with it on paper of better than average quality, adjusting as necessary to bring it up to the RichardsPens.com "factory" standard for smoothness and flow. If you order a new nib with customization, I will modify the nib (for an extra charge), and we will ship it without any extra delay. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Follow Us on the Internet with Facebook and Twitter *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We'd like to be liked on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/NashuaPenSpa And you're invited to follow us on Twitter: @RichardsPens ======================================================================== If you received this newsletter from Richard Binder, you are a Nib Noise subscriber.
