This month's Tray has some exciting pens that I'll bet you've never seen before -- and are unlikely to see elsewhere ever again. Don't miss out. Be there when the page reloads to display the Add to Cart buttons, promptly at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time tonight! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** September in New England Is SHOW TIME! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ It's September. August is gone for another year, and with it the DC SuperShow. But here in New England it's show time all over again. The Third Annual Commonwealth Pen Show will be held on Sunday, September 25. It's a one-day show, but it's a good one! There are some new vendors this year, and the room will be bursting at the seams. If you're planning to go leaf peeping in October, or even if you're not, what better way can there be to start your holiday than by coming to a pen show! Come and help us exhibitors convince Jim and Cheryl Baer that the Boston area can support a two-day show next year. If you plan to come and haven't ever been to a show before, you might want to read my article on Your First Pen Show: http://www.richardspens.com/?shows=firstshow Also, please read our "Table Talk" FAQ to learn how we operate at shows: http://www.richardspens.com/?info=shows+faq For information about the show and the hotel, please visit the show's Web site. Please note the new URL; the show now has its own site, I'm not hosting it anymore. http://www.commonwealthpenshow.com/ Barbara and I will be there all day Sunday. I will be working on nibs to improve or customize your writing experience, and Barbara will be juggling people to make sure I don't have time to go on a buying spree. We can accept your MasterCard, VISA, American Express, or Discover card -- but many of the vintage dealers are hobbyists who can handle only cash, so be sure to note the location of the ATM in the hotel lobby. We look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones. We hope to see you there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Barbara'a Attic *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We shifted some new items into Barbara's Attic a couple of days ago. Some of them have already gone bye-bye, so we've put a couple more in since then, and I have a couple of ideas for more non-pen-related items from my personal collection. Check it out! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Broad Strokes *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the world of fountain pens, there’s not much that’s really new. A handful of companies still produce their own nibs, feeds, and so on, but most use stock parts from sources such as Bock, JoWo, and Schmidt. Why do we not look upon the Delta Return to China LE or the Bexley Monarch or the Conklin Mark Twain as merely variations of the basic “Bock” or “JoWo” pen? http://www.richardspens.com/?ttp=newpens ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Pens That Write Right! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Unless otherwise requested at the time of sale or unless otherwise noted in Barbara's Attic, I personally tune each new nib we sell at no extra charge before shipment. I test the nib in a pen filled with Waterman Mysterious Blue ink and write with it on paper of better than average quality, adjusting as necessary to bring it up to the RichardsPens.com "factory" standard for smoothness and flow. If you order a new nib with customization (gold nibs only), I'll modify the nib (for an extra charge), and we will ship it without any extra delay. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Follow Us on the Internet with Facebook and Twitter *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We'd like to be liked on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/NashuaPenSpa And you're invited to follow our occasional tweets on Twitter: @RichardsPens ======================================================================== If you received this newsletter from Richard Binder, you are a Nib Noise subscriber.
