We are primed for a new year, a year of changes for us, and we look forward to being with you over the next twelvemonth. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** The Monthly "Pen Show Tray" Has Some Wonderful Pens! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Tray has been up on Facebook for several days, giving you lots of opportunity to see the exciting pens that are there this month. I'm not going to recap them all for you, but I would like to call your attention to the Brown Modern Stripe Skyline, the Blue Cedar "51", and the oversize BCHR Sheaffer Lifetime flat-top. These aren't all the exceptional pens this monty, but they should serve to whet your appetite. http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=tray ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** PEN CHESTS! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Your holiday gift list, no doubt, had a pen collector or three, right? If you didn't think of pen storage before Christmas, there's still time; many of the lovely boxes Don had up last month are still available. They range from $29 to $49, and there are lots of different sizes, with one just right for that collector you missed... Or for you, if the people who had you on their lists added to your hoard of pens! Bonus deal: Buy three, get one free (Don's choice). http://www.richardspens.com/?acc=boxes ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Barbara'a Attic *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The second tray that Barbara added to her Attic last month is still there, with seven of the original ten pens remaining. It's a special tray, filled with nominally identical Sheaffer Snorkel Admirals that will provide you with many entertaining hours of restoration and repair. http://www.richardspens.com/?acc=attic If you're not up to speed on how to restore a Snorkel, here's the info you need: http://www.richardspens.com/?rep=snorkel_filler ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** The RichardsPens 2017 Calendar Is Still Available *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I finished up my 2017 calendar at the beginning of November, and it's still available for sale at CafePress. The good thing about this calendar, if the great pens on it weren't enough, is that it won't go out of stock. Buy all you want, they'll print more! We do not stock these calendars; you order them from CafePress, and CafePress prints and delivers them. Please note, the calendar starts by default on the month in which you order it. It's January so the calendar will last all year! http://www.cafepress.com/richardspens.1674131464 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Our Next Pen Show Will Be in Baltimore *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We're all settled in for a cozy New Hampshire winter. We have firewood, sweaters, blankets, gloves, and fuel for the snowblower, so we're ready. The next time we're going to venture out to a pen show will be over the first weekend in March, for the Baltimore-Washington International Pen Show. This shindig is a Bert Oser show, so you know it's gonna be great. We'll see you there? For much more information, visit the show's Web site: http://www.baltimorepenshow.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Broad Strokes *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On the off chance that Santa Claus brought you a new vintage pen, the Pen Doctor has made another of his periodic visits. His new collection of prescriptions is available for your perusal and application: http://www.richardspens.com/?pendoc=28 Last month, I put up a reboot of Ron Dutcher's excellent Manhattan Pen Makers Project. Since then I've been working on expanding it and making it more usable. As of August 2012, Ron's database listed 272 addresses representing 195 pen makers. As of 1 January 2017, the database lists 434 addresses representing 250 pen makers. Ron's database included a bibliography; but the list of documents was clearly not complete, and there was no connection between a given address and the source document that yielded that address. In the new version, instead of a separate bibliography page, addresses that are links will display pop-up dialogs that show the citations. There are currently 247 addresses with citations. http://www.richardspens.com/?manhattan= Work is continuing to make the database more nearly complete. True completeness is an impossibility, of course, but the more makers it contains, the better and more useful the database will be. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Pens That Write Right! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Unless otherwise requested at the time of sale or unless otherwise noted in Barbara's Attic, I personally tune each new nib we sell at no extra charge before shipment. I test the nib in a pen filled with Waterman Mysterious Blue ink and write with it on paper of better than average quality, adjusting as necessary to bring it up to the RichardsPens.com "factory" standard for smoothness and flow. If you order a new nib with customization (gold nibs only), I'll modify the nib (for an extra charge), and we will ship it without any extra delay. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Follow Us on the Internet with Facebook and Twitter *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We'd like to be liked on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/NashuaPenSpa And you're invited to follow our occasional tweets on Twitter: @RichardsPens ======================================================================== If you received this newsletter from Richard Binder, you are a Nib Noise subscriber.
