We've been putting up trays since at least May 2007. (That's the earliest tray photo I can find.) It's been fun, but it's time for us to stop and smell the flowers. Or plant the flowers. Or hang more model airplanes from the ceiling. Or travel around the world. This month's tray page is going to be a special page. In addition to the regular (final) 20-pen tray, it will also include an additional BONUS tray with 12 more pens. More pens = more chances to find the perfect pen! http://www.richardspens.com/?pens=tray The page should be up on Facebook for pre-sale drooling in a couple of days. As always, you will not see any "Add to Cart" buttons until 10:00 p.m. Eastern time on May 31. The page will automatically reload at that exact moment, and the buttons will be there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** IMPORTANT "PEN SHOW TRAY" NEWS -- READ THIS!! *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Didn't I just do this? No, this is different news. When I told Mike and Linda Kennedy that we were discontinuing our monthly trays, they were shocked. They asked if they could step into the breach. Far be it from me to put the brakes on a good thing, so the good news is that Mike and Linda will be putting up a monthly tray starting with July. I've already hooked Mike and Linda up with my picker, and I've seen the pens that will be on their first tray. They are going to do things proud! They'll have more news soon. Watch their site, and watch their Facebook page: http://www.indypendance.com/ https://www.facebook.com/IndyPen/ Oh, and do sign up for their free e-newsletter! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** And Don't Forget Barbara's Attic *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Although the June 2017 "Pen Show Tray" will be our last monthly tray, we will continue to offer assorted miscellany in Barbara's Attic, including a new tray of restorable pens and the nibs in the RichardsPens Nib Shop. The price blowout on our nibs continues; join in the fun and you can save hundreds of dollars. http://www.richardspens.com/?acc=attic ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Susan Wirth, Pendom's Beloved Kitty Lady *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ For those of you who may not already have heard the news, Susan Wirth has died. She will no longer brighten our pen-show days, and we miss her terribly already. Below is a broadcast email from Susan's partner and friend, John Martinson. Because he does not have email addresses for everyone who knew Susan, he intended this email to be spread far and wide to the pen community > Dear Associates: > > As Susan's faithful traveling companion, confidant and fearless > assistant, I would like to formally invite you to Susan Wirth's last > pen show in DC this year. > > I would truly appreciate it if you could send this e-mail to every > associate who worked with Susan Wirth, past and present. Forward it, > like the State Motto from Wisconsin! > > This must be a proud moment for all of us, albeit a sad one, of > course, due to our rat furred technicoloured Ink Queen's recent > passing.  I hope you all will be able to attend and help lead en > masse, Susan's beloved Rubbermaid cart out the door for her final > show.  It's what she certainly would've wanted. > > The pen community must have a memorable experience with the Memorial > Ceremony. Details will come soon through my own e-mail: > Shamouti1@yahoo.com. > > Please note; this will NOT END SUSAN'S WORK!  She wouldn't allow it > under any circumstances.  Operations will continue with > restructuring and we will start going to shows again very soon.  In > fact, we will SELL PENS at the DC show, and keep a mini table in a > separate room, thanks to Bob Johnson's help, for the Memorial > Ceremony.  Wear black, and have a BIT of Colour please. > > Again, please send this e-mail to all past and present associates. > I can't seem to find all of them, but I am certain you have their > e-mail address, too. If anyone has a question regarding the > Memorial, pleaser contact me: Shamouti1@yahoo.com > > The Susan Wirth Memorial Ceremony will take place on Saturday, Aug. > 5th @ 7PM EST.  Shoes are optional, Darling. > > Sincerely with Quink-stained hands, > John Martinson > Susan Wirth and Associates ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** The Washington DC Fountain Pen SuperShow *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ As John Martinson's email above makes obvious, the show is on! Bob Johnson has broken the news, and the show is scheduled for Thurday, August 3, through Sunday, August 6. It will be at a new venue, the Marriott Fairview Place in Falls Church, Virginia. It's just off the Washington DC Beltway, a little south of the old location. For the first time, the special pen show room rate will include breakfast. We're really looking forward to the new hotel, the show, and all the friends we'll see there. We are not yet sure whether I will be doing a nib smoothing workshop at the show; I've not been able to confirm yet with Bob. More news next month! In the meantime, Bob is gradually updating his site: http://www.pencentral.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Broad Strokes *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ There are few things about pen collecting that are so disappointing as finding a great pen, one that you really want, in perfect condition except for a tiny flaw like a hairline crack in the barrel threads. In most cases, it’s possible to repair a crack of this nature, and the repair is equally effective with celluloid or hard rubber: http://www.richardspens/?rep=sleeve Next month: A profile of a modern classic. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *** Follow Us on the Internet with Facebook *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We'd like to be liked on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/NashuaPenSpa ======================================================================== If you received this newsletter from Richard Binder, you are a Nib Noise subscriber.
