The Bexley Pen Company, located in Columbus, Ohio, was founded in 1993 by a handful of vintage pen enthusiasts who wanted to use modem technology to create American classic designs reminiscent of the Golden Age of Fountain Pens. Bexley pens, whether made of hard rubber in the classic old tradition, or of acrylic or other modern materials, offer the style and poise of a bygone era, updated for today’s larger, faster lifestyle.
If what you want isn’t here, please contact us by email. You can see the complete Bexley line at Bexley Pens.
Pens That Write Right! Our nibs are NOT like other dealers’ nibs! To make sure you get the nib size you want, read this.
Buy It Now, Get It Now!Purchases of new pens usually happen in a matter of days. We do not put new purchases into the repair queue for nib adjustment or modification!
Looking for a Custom Nib?Ordering a custom nib is easy — read this pop-up “comic strip” to see just how easy it is! If you order a new pen with a customized nib, I will modify the nib (for an extra charge) and ship the pen immediately instead of putting it into my regular queue.
CoronaBexley has never been slow to try new things to create pens that are better, not just glitzier, and they’ve really done it this time. The new Corona is the first true American-made piston-filling pen since the Conklin Nozac of the 1930s. With Bexley’s revolutionary smooth-acting high-capacity piston mechanism, this pen will set new standards for reliability, performance, and long writeout. And did you notice that clear ink-view window just north of the barrel threads? Just a skosh larger than the recently retired Simplicity, the Corona is 513/32" capped and 627/32" posted. And, as with all Bexley pens, the Corona comes fitted with your choice of Bexley’s excellent nibs in steel or 18K gold. With classic flat-top styling that fits well in virtually every hand, together with its exciting new colors, this is your pen. Not for the timid, the imposingly grand Bexley Imperial has the classic cigar shape and great hand feel so often associated with higher-priced Japanese pens — plus the almost-alive warmth of ebonite! Bexley has brought in some completely new ebonite colors for the Imperial: Denim/Black and Violet/Black. Making up a triplet of exciting colors is a richly vintage-styled Red/Black woodgrain ebonite. At 515/16" capped and 75/16" posted, there’s nothing prissy about these pens. Are you brave enough to sport one? Appropriately, the Imperial features Bexley’s excellent steel or 18K gold two-tone nibs in your choice of Fine, Medium, Broad, or Broad Stub. Fills with cartridges or the included Schmidt K5 converter. Click the magnifying glasses for zoomed images of this pen (more size info here).

Bexley’s Imperial International has the same classic cigar shape and great hand feel that make the Imperial so popular and pleasurable to write with. It’s just a slightly smaller package, and because it has Bexley’s excellent steel nib instead of gold, it’s much easier on the pocketbook. Its size of 513/32" capped and 611/16" posted puts it smack in the middle of the range, and that means it's great for anyone who likes a shortish, but not skinny, pen. The trio of colors comes from the “rarely seen before” closet at Bexley, and they are elegant or vibrant, or both! Fills with cartridges or the included Schmidt K5 converter. Cigar-shaped pens like the Bexley Imperial are great. They're attractive, well made, and good in the hand. But some of us just don’t get along well with cigar-shaped pens. The success of Bexley’s unproductized and unannounced 56 has pushed the company’s “we love vintage pens” button again, and now there is the Bexley 58. Like the 56, it’s patterned on a great old Waterman shape, straight and strong. Like the vintage 58 from which it takes its model number, it’s just bigger: 61/16" capped and 77/8" posted. The 58 is a huge hunk of pen, but for all its size it’s remarkably nice in the hand. It features Bexley’s excellent steel or 18K gold nibs, and it fills with cartridges or the included Schmidt K5 converter. It’s also fitted for use as an eyedropper filler (eyedropper not included). Coems in your choice of four great colors, with your choice of gold-plated (Au) or rhodium-plated (Rh) furniture. Click the magnifying glass for a zoomed image of this pen (more size info here),

Poseidon, the ancient Greek god of the sea! Just the name brings to mind images of power. Brawny and solid, elegantly tapered, fitted with double cap bands, Poseidon Magnum isn’t a telephone pole or even a baseball bat — no over-the-top oversize, just a good big solid pen that fills even the biggest hand and writes like a dream (the way you expect from Bexley). At 57/16" capped and 63/4" posted, it doesn’t seem all that much longer than its little brother, but what a difference that tiny bit of length can make! Fills with cartridges or the included Schmidt K5 converter. Click the magnifying glasses for zoomed images of these pens (more size info here).

Here is a pen steeped in tradition — the kind of pen Bexley was founded to create. The classic sweep of the “Equi-Poised” shape is easy on the eyes and perfectly balanced so it snuggles into your hand as if made for you alone. The low-mounted roller ball clip slides easily into a pocket and out again with no rucking-up of the pocket’s hem. At 59/16" capped, 613/32" posted, America the Beautiful is the perfect size and weight for almost everyone — not so light it will fly away, but not loaded down with the kind of overweight heft that will tire you out. Three uniquely brilliant colors will attract attention everywhere. Fills with cartridges or the included Schmidt K5 converter. Elegancia looks like a Flat-Top that got a streamlining treatment from the same shop that streamlined the Parker Duofold in 1929. In the same way that Parker refined the Duofold to create a smoother, more modern shape, Bexley has created a new look — Elegancia’s curves are subtle, and they really do add up to an elegant shape for the first Bexley pen to receive a Spanish name. Offered in four brand-new semitransparent “Shell” colors, Elegancia is a pen that’s built for writing, not for anchoring boats; this lightweight, perfectly balanced instrument is a graceful 53/16" capped and about 625/32" posted. Machined from cast acrylic and set with Bexley's reliable roller clip, Elegancia is Bexley's first pen to feature a new German-made steel nib design (available in grades of F, M, or B) that makes it easier to upgrade to an 18K gold nib. Fills with cartridges or the included Schmidt K5 converter. Click the magnifying glasses for zoomed images of these pens (more size info here).

It’s 531/32" capped, 67/8" posted, and all PEN! That just has to be Intrepid. “Intrepid” means fearless, and that’s a fair characterization of Bexley’s big, bold successor to the BX701. Carved with smooth, slender contours, it’s longer and better balanced than pretty much any other pen in its price class, and it’s guaranteed to get double-takes when you’re using it. Are you intrepid enough to go Mandarin or Blue Shimmer, or is your cuppa just a little more laid back, in black or Duofold Red? Whichever Intrepid is yours, it will be noticed — and so will you. And in case you want to write with it, Intrepid comes fitted with the new steel nib Bexley introduced on Elegancia, with an option to upgrade to 18K gold. Fills with cartridges or the included Schmidt K5 converter. Click the magnifying glass for a zoomed image of this pen (more size info here).

Because Bexley pens have interchangeable nibs, some owners find it convenient to purchase extra nibs to fit their pens. If you have never tried installing or removing a nib, rest assured that you can do it. Check out our nib swapping instructions.
As with the pens we sell, unless otherwise requested at the time of sale, we tune each new nib at no extra charge before shipment. We install the nib in a pen body, fill the pen with Waterman Blue-Black ink, and write with it on paper from the same fountain pen friendly pads we sell, adjusting as necessary to bring it up to the RichardsPens.com “factory” standard for smoothness and flow. Our clients have named this procedure “Binderizing.” The result is an adjusted nib, not a customized one.
If you are unsure about stroke widths, please check our stroke width chart for illustrations of stroke sizes that our nibs produce. To do this, right-click the image at the right (Macintosh users control-click) to download the chart in PDF format (for Adobe Reader). The chart is designed to print on U.S. letter-size paper (81/2"×11"), and it should also print well on A4 paper. After you have printed the chart, find some fountain pen friendly paper and make strokes on it with your own pens for comparison.
