Today’s Onoto Pen Company carries on that proud tradition with an ever-increasing range of limited edition luxury fountain pens and writing accessories: exclusive and individual works of art with a world-class pedigree, hand crafted in England by master penmakers.

If what you want isn’t here, please contact us by email. You can learn more about Onoto’s complete range of offerings at the Onoto Pen Company site.

Please note that Onoto pens are hand made, and most are built when they are ordered. We carry a small stock of the resin Magnas and the Overlay Nº 1; if you order a pen that is not in our stock, it will be made especially to your order and will require two to three weeks for delivery.

Pens That Write Right!

Our nibs are NOT like other dealers’ nibs! To make sure you get the nib size you want, read this.

Buy It Now, Get It Now!

Purchases of new pens usually happen in a matter of days. We do not put new purchases into the repair queue for nib adjustment or modification!

Looking for a Custom Nib?

Ordering a custom nib is easy — read this pop-up “comic strip” to see just how easy it is! If you order a new pen with a customized nib, I will modify the nib (for an extra charge) and ship the pen immediately instead of putting it into my regular queue.

Note
Note
Onoto nibs tend to run a little finer than other Western nibs; an Onoto medium, for example, is about halfway between a fine and a medium from other European makers.
Horatio Nelson

Onoto is issuing the Horatio Nelson in an exclusive worldwide limited edition of 100 pieces in hallmarked Victory Silver®. The barrel has been crafted in the style of Nelson’s Column, while the cap is intricately enamelled in rich cobalt blue over an engine-turned wave pattern. The end of the cap bears a gilded silver button based on the fouled anchor buttons found on Nelson’s uniform, and the three gilded silver bands around the bottom of the cap have been designed to resemble the braid around the cuff of Nelson’s uniform sleeve. A silver cartouche with a rope border bears a facsimile of Nelson’s signature and his dates. The pen features an 18K Onoto Nº 7 nib in Fine, Medium and Broad, and it comes with a standard Schmidt K5 converter. This magnificent pen is 513/32" capped and 67/8" posted. Magna

The 1937 Onoto Magna is considered by many to be the finest vintage Onoto ever produced. After many requests from Onoto enthusiasts around the world, the modern Onoto company decided to create a modern version of the Magna, in a limited edition of 200 pieces. This is not just as an ordinary pen. Produced in hallmarked sterling silver, the new Onoto Magna features a guilloché Hera weave pattern with an 18K gold Onoto Nº 7 nib. At 511/16" capped (we recommend that it not be posted), it’s a satisfying handful of marvelously tactile silver that also happens to write wonderfully. Overlay Nº 1

SketchInspiration takes many forms. A tiny, delicate pencil drawing by master craftsman Henry Simpole has become the foundation for one of the most beautiful writing instruments ever created by Onoto, the Overlay Nº 1. This is a long, slender pen in the classic Turn of the Century style, 511/16" capped and 67/8" posted. Like most of the pens that were being made made when Onoto got its start, the Overlay Nº 1 is clipless, and its cap is a secure friction fit, not threaded. Stylish, elegant and tactile, this fountain pen follows a proud tradition of making filigree overlays dating back to the 1910s. Staying true to that period and combining design influences from Art Nouveau, this simple sketch has turned into a masterpiece of pen design — with a hidden secret! Look closely at Henry’s initial sketch at the right and you’ll see the letters O-N-O-T-O embedded into the design, starting from the top left. Fitted with an 18K Onoto Nº 3 gold nib, the Overlay Nº 1 comes with a standard Schmidt K5 converter. Click the magnifying glass for a zoomed image of this pen (more size info here).

Heritage

The Heritage is Onoto’s tribute to the pen that created the name Onoto the Pen. In 1905, a mechanical engineer, tinkerer, and sometime vaudeville performer named George Sweetser patented a revolutionary plunger-operated filling system, and within the year his invention was available to pen buyers in the United Kingdom. Onoto the Pen proved so excellent that it soon spread worldwide. Today’s Heritage is a true plunger-filling pen that operates exactly the same way as the first Onotos, featuring a real ink shut-off and a smooth and reliable one-stroke operation that flushes the pen and fills it at the same time. At 525/32" capped and 7" posted, it’s a pen for the larger hands of today. Like most of the pens that were being made made when Onoto got its start, the Heritage is clipless, and its cap is a secure friction fit, not threaded. Stylish and elegant, this fountain pen follows a proud tradition of making filigree overlays dating back to the 1910s. Staying true to that period and combining design influences from Art Nouveau, it bears on its cap the same elegantly clever overlay that is also fitted to the Overlay Nº 1. It has an 18K Onoto Nº 3 gold nib. Click the magnifying glass for a zoomed image of this pen (more size info here).

Sir Winston Churchill Pinstripe

Records show that Winston Churchill used Onoto pens for much of his writing throughout World War I and World War II. As a writer and communicator, he considered a pen to be possibly his most important tool; he once said, “I have always earned my living by my pen.” The first in a range of official Sir Winston Churchill pens by Onoto, the Sir Winston Churchill Pinstripe is made in a limited edition of 1874 pens to commemorate the year of Sir Winston’s birth. Identical to the Magna Classic in size at 51/2" capped and 67/16" posted, the Churchill Pinstripe features a single broad sterling silver band bearing a facsimile of Mr. Churchill’s signature; the cap crown has an inset sterling silver plaque made from a wax casting taken from Sir Winston’s signet ring, featuring the Spencer Churchill family seal of a Lion and a Gryphon. The pen’s body is a special fusion-bonded acrylic, in black with lengthwise bands of lustrous pearlized deep blue set off by white pinstripes. The Churchill Pinstripe comes with your choice of Onoto’s excellent Nº 7 nibs in steel or 18K gold, and it is fitted with a standard Schmidt K5 converter. Click the magnifying glass for a zoomed image of this pen (more size info here).

The Sir Winston Churchill Fountain Pen range is officially authorized by Churchill Heritage, and the proceeds support good causes and educational initiatives associated with preserving the heritage and legacy of Sir Winston Churchill.

Magna Classic

Hold the Magna Classic and you will marvel at its perfect balance and its tactile feel. Big enough to lay great heft in your hand but not so big you could rent it out for a baseball bat, it’s made of a special high-density acrylic that makes it one of the sturdiest pens on the market today. Based on the style and shape of one of the most famous fountain pens ever made, the Onoto Magna of 1937, the Magna Classic features three sterling silver cap bands (gold plated on the Blue/Gold pen) and the famous Onoto Chevron clip. It stacks up at 51/2" capped and 67/16" posted. Offered with your choice of Onoto’s excellent Nº 7 nibs in steel or 18K gold, the Magna Classic comes with a standard Schmidt K5 converter. Magna 261

If you are looking for an elegant writing pen, a pen that has some “presence,” is perfectly balanced, and will give you hours of smooth writing pleasure, then the Magna 261 has the pedigree to suit. Following in the long tradition of excellent Onoto pens, this contemporary addition to the range has a proud heritage. In 1909, as Onoto started to flex its considerable marketing muscles around the globe, the United States appeared as a key market. So it was little surprise when De La Rue, then owners of the Onoto brand, decided to set up a U.S. subsidiary in New York to manufacture, market, and sell Onoto pens. The offices were soon established at 261 Broadway in New York City, and to celebrate that occasion more than 100 years ago, the Onoto Pen Company presents the Magna 261 Centenary Edition, a limited edition of 261 pens. Identical to the Magna Classic in size at 51/2" capped and 67/16" posted, the Magna 261 features a single broad gold-plated hallmarked sterling silver band and body chasing in a striking pattern like that used on the classic Onoto pens of the 1930s. It comes with your choice of Onoto’s excellent Nº 7 nibs in steel or 18K gold, and it is fitted with a standard Schmidt K5 converter.
