Arrow New Pens

Fountain pen imageWe are an authorized retailer for Bexley, Classic Pens Inc., Conway Stewart, Namiki & Pilot, Pelikan, and Signum. We also have a few other bargains, specials, and consignment pens that are just too good to pass up. The new pens we offer are carefully selected models that we hope will appeal to a broad range of users. We’re always happy to help you in choosing a pen or a nib customization that you’ll find pleasing; if you have questions about the suitability of a pen you’re considering, feel free to send mail.

Pens That Write Right!

If the nib’s no good, it doesn’t matter how fancy the rest of the pen is — it’s not a good pen.

Unless otherwise requested at the time of sale, I tune each new pen or nib at no extra charge before shipment. I fill the pen with Waterman Blue-Black ink and write with it on paper from the same fountain pen friendly pads we sell, adjusting as necessary to bring it up to the RichardsPens.com “factory” standard for smoothness and flow.

The result is an adjusted nib, not a customized one. Different inks or different papers can produce different results. Any special adjustment to accommodate your flow preference or a specific ink or paper comes under the heading of customization, and there will be an additional charge for that work.

Arrow Specialty Nibs

My handcrafted specialty nibs give you a very easy and economical way to explore line variation, ultrafine points, and other nibs not generally offered. I offer handcrafted nibs for your Pelikan M2nn, M4nn, M6nn, M700 Toledo, and “1931” and “1935” limited editions), and for your Namiki (Pilot) Vanishing Point. I regrind standard nibs into italic, oblique italic, and stub italic points that yield beautiful line variation yet retain superb ease in the hand. Each nib is painstakingly hand finished, smoothed, and adjusted for proper flow.

Arrow Restored Vintage Pens

Fountain pen imageIn general, vintage pens are pens that were made many years ago. Exactly how old a pen must be to qualify as “vintage” is a matter of opinion; for arbitrary reasons, I consider pens introduced before about 1960 to be vintage.

All of my vintage pens are fully restored to good writing condition unless otherwise noted. Except for pens that are described as being in mint or NOS condition, these are used pens. I guarantee all of my restoration work (resacking, nib adjustments, etc.)

Arrow Esterbrook Renew-Point Nibs

We have a small stock of Renew-Point nibs. Most are NOS; those that are not NOS have been tested and reconditioned as needed.

Clients’ Comments

Among the nicest things we receive from our clients are notes of thanks. On our Clients’ Comments page you will find some of the email messages we’ve received about our work. Sometimes these notes are accompanied by, or are themselves, lovely works of art. You will find some of our clients’ artwork on our Gallery page.

Shipping

Advertising blotterYou can purchase pens and other items from us over a secure Web connection through PayPal, using VISA, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express. (You do not need to be a PayPal member to use this service.) Prices do not include shipping or insurance. We use the postal system, not private couriers. We package pens in boxes, with bubble wrap and packing “peanuts” as needed to keep package contents stable and secure. In the U.S.A., we normally send pens by U.S. Priority Mail, insured by our own insurance carrier. For other countries, shipping costs depend on your choice of method. We can ship via Air Letter Post or EMS (faster than Air Letter Post, but much more costly). We prefer not to ship pens without insurance. If you ask us to send your pens without insurance, you assume all risks; we cannot be liable for uninsured shipments. The safest possible — and also the slowest — shipping method is Registered Air letter Post. The U.S. Postal Service Web site offers a postage calculator to help you decide which shipping option is best suited to your needs.

What Is That Thing? >

The object depicted to the right is not a fancy business card. It’s an advertising blotter. We have five different blotters, and we include one randomly chosen blotter with each package we ship. Also, in response to repeated queries from our clients, we have a complete set of the five different designs for sale. Please check them out here.
